Welcome to Nashville MMA Academy!
The Nashville Mixed Martial Arts Academy
sets the
standard for realistic martial arts training in Nashville. We believe to
get better you must evolve with the times and always provide the community
with the best ways to defend themselves. We have combined the most effective
forms of self defense to create a truly diverse training environment.
We have brought in instructors from Brazil and Holland to teach our base
programs: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing.
Our Mission
At the Nashville Mixed Martial Arts Academy we provide students with the
most realistic training available in a safe, fun, and friendly environment.
We strive to make our students better people through realistic martial arts
training and enhancing their physical fitness. Our mission is to provide
the community with the best possible training at reasonable prices and never
give into the commercialization of self defense. By giving in, we would
be no better than the other dojo's on every street corner in Nashville.
Why not Karate or Tae Kwon Do?
At the Nashville Mixed Martial Arts Academy we believe the forms of Karate
and
Tae kwon do being taught in Nashville does not work in a real fighting
situation. The techniques taught in these styles have gone away from self
defense and the styles have become more of a point fighting game. In addition,
these styles have not evolved over the years to defend techniques from other
styles. Many of the techniques taught in these styles will get the practioner
hurt if he or she were to try them in a real self defense situation. Many
practitioners are filled with a false sense of security and that is a very
dangerous thing. The answer to the question "why not Karate or Tae kwon
do"… these styles don't work.
Why Nashville Mixed Martial Arts?
10 years ago Royce Gracie entered the
Ultimate
Fighting Championships as the smallest competitor. He easily
defeated
all opponents. Royce went on to win 3 out of the first 4 UFC tournaments
defeating all other styles of martial arts. This event fighters from Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Tae kwon do, Muay Thai kickboxing, Aikido, wrestling,
Wing Chun and so on. This event proved that Karate and Taekwondo did not
work in a real fight. Never has a Karate or Tae kwon do practioner lasted
longer than 3 minutes in the UFC.
Over the last 10 years the sport of Mixed Martial Arts has evolved greatly. As more and more fighting events occurred three particular fighting styles showed to be the most effective. These styles are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai kickboxing, and wrestling (folk style, free style, Greco). Today's Mixed Martial Arts fighter is proficient in every style. At the Nashville Mixed Martial Arts Academy we teach all three of these styles and combine them to provide the student with the most effective and comprehensive program in Tennessee.
